We take your privacy seriously. This website collects only the information needed to provide our services and keep the site running smoothly. This statement explains what we collect, why, and what your rights are.
Who we are
The South East Smokefree Alliance is hosted by East Sussex County Council (ESCC), which is the data controller for any personal information collected through this website. All data collected is owned by ESCC and is never sold or passed to third parties for marketing.
No IP tracking
We do not collect or store your IP address. Our analytics (Google Analytics 4) is configured so that IP addresses are not logged or stored, and it only runs once you have given consent through the cookie banner.
Cookies
We use essential cookies to make this website work. Analytics cookies and cookies from video services such as YouTube are only used if you agree to them. Our cookies page lists every cookie we use and lets you change your choice at any time.
Personal information you give us
If you choose to share personal details with us — for example through the call-back request form, a newsletter sign-up, a webinar registration, a research sign-up or a questionnaire — we will only use that information for the purpose you gave it, and only with your clear consent:
- Call-back requests are passed to the local stop smoking service that covers your postcode so they can call you. We keep a record of your request (with the first part of your postcode only) so nothing is lost, and delete it once it is no longer needed.
- Newsletter sign-ups are used only to send you the alliance newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Webinar registrations are used to manage your place, the recording, the workbook and your CPD certificate.
- Research sign-ups (for example to take part in, or help with, our research on ADHD and stopping smoking) are used only to contact you about that research.
- Questionnaire answers are anonymous and used to improve stop smoking support in the South East.
We will not share your information with anyone else without your consent, unless required by law.
Security
We keep any information you provide safe and take steps to protect it from loss or misuse. Data stored by our website hosts is encrypted and is not used by them for any purpose.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or withdraw your consent at any time by contacting sarah.milne@eastsussex.gov.uk. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
